Mark Spiteri is a founder director of Woodsford and one of the most experienced litigation finance professionals in the international market.  Mark leads the finance, commercial and operations functions of Woodsford which touches all geographic regions, investment structures and investment types. Throughout his career at Woodsford he has followed dozens of cases through the origination, underwriting and realisation phases. 

Mark is an expert on ESG matters, both in helping to identify and quantify the impact of breakdowns in ESG at publicly listed companies and also as a non-executive Director of a listed company, with responsibility for overseeing development of the company’s ESG strategy and compliance with its own ESG policies.

Mark is an industry leader in structuring investments to align the interests of the various stakeholders in the litigation process and he has deep knowledge of litigation finance both as an investment class and from an accounting perspective, being responsible for overseeing and implementing the group’s accounting standards under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) both in the UK and Australia.

Prior to joining Woodsford, Mark had a varied career in the investment, financial and professional services sectors, holding positions in the management consultancy and corporate finance departments of PriceWaterhouseCoopers and latterly as the Managing Director of a family office responsible for investing in private equity, fixed income and direct real estate.  In this role Mark co-founded several businesses including Woodsford.

Outside of Woodsford, Mark holds a number of non-executive positions including at Dom Development SA, Poland’s largest listed residential developer and TradeBridge, a London-based fintech. 

Mark is a graduate in economics from the London School of Economics and he is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.  He has written articles on litigation finance, including for Financial Management Magazine (published by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants) and he contributed a chapter to The Law and Business of Litigation Finance (published by Bloomsbury Professional).
