Charlie is at the cutting edge of developments in litigation finance, leading Woodsford’s ground-breaking efforts to hold listed businesses to account for serious breakdowns in corporate governance standards. Charlie plays a key role in Woodsford’s investments, and origination of securities and antitrust/competition class and group actions in the UK, Australia, continental Europe, South Africa, Japan and Canada, as well as in international commercial and investor-state arbitrations.
As Chief Investment Officer of Woodsford, Charlie has overall responsibility for Woodsford’s investments. He is an English-qualified senior lawyer with significant experience of handling high-value international litigation and arbitration across a wide range of sectors, both in his capacity as a lawyer and as a litigation funder.
Before joining Woodsford in March 2016, Charlie was a litigation and arbitration lawyer at London disputes boutique Enyo Law LLP and before that at international firm Addleshaw Goddard LLP.
Charlie completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School, following his Post Graduate Diploma in Law.
Since 2021, Charlie has been recognised as one of the top 100 professionals at the forefront of the litigation funding industry in the Lawdragon Global 100 – Leaders in Legal Finance Guide. He has also been consistently recognised as a key individual by Chambers & Partners since 2020.
Charlie was named by Business Today as one of the Top 10 Most Influential Litigation Funding Lawyers in the UK in 2023. He has contributed a chapter to both the first and second edition of The Law and Business of Litigation Finance (published by Bloomsbury Professional). Charlie was recognised as a leading expert in Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal): Thought Leaders Third Party Funding 2024 and 2025.
