Jonathan is a co-founder of Woodsford Group, a board director, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel.
As one of the world’s most experienced litigation funding professionals, he serves on the boards of both the Association of Litigation Funders (ALF) and International Legal Finance Association (ILFA). He is a director of the Association of Litigation Funders – the litigation finance sector’s self-regulatory body in England/Wales and a director of the International Legal Finance Association – the sector’s global trade association.
Before leaving private practice, Jonathan enjoyed a successful 20-year career in the City of London as a transactional lawyer. Jonathan was Partner in two City of London law firms before joining longstanding client Woodsford Consulting – a business consultancy and Family Office of a wealthy European family – as a director and subsequently CEO.
Jonathan co-founded Woodsford Group in 2010 and has been central to its successful growth.
Jonathan has been consistently recognised as one of the top 100 professionals at the forefront of the litigation funding industry in the Lawdragon Global 100 – Leaders in Legal Finance Guide since 2021.
He has also contributed a chapter to both the first and second edition of The Law and Business of Litigation Finance (published by Bloomsbury Professional). Jonathan was also recognised as a leading expert in Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal): Thought Leaders Third Party Funding 2024 and 2025.
