Woodsford Litigation Funding today announced that Lara Bird has joined the company as Investment Officer, reporting to Steven Friel, the firm’s Chief Investment Officer.
Lara Bird is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a registered foreign lawyer in England and Wales. She previously worked for one of New Zealand’s oldest and largest law firms, Bell Gully, before joining the London office of global litigation firm Hausfeld & Co. LLP, where she specialised in financial services and general commercial litigation.
Steven Friel said: “Lara joins Woodsford at an exciting time in our growth. We are actively invested in a number of arbitrations and litigations around the world, and we expect to make a number of further substantial investments in the next three years. As a result, we continue to recruit talented litigators at all level.”
Lara Bird said: “I was exposed to litigation funding early in my private practice career in New Zealand, and developed my interest when I moved to work in the London legal market. I believe litigation funding adds a different dynamic and an additional layer of diligence to litigation. I am thrilled to join Woodsford at a time when the litigation funding market is expanding exponentially, and I look forward to being part of Woodsford’s continuing growth and success.”
