Alex Hickson is an Australian-qualified lawyer who together with Woodsford’s CIO Charlie Morris, is primarily responsible for overseeing Woodsford’s funded litigation in Australia.

Alex is a strong advocate for access to justice and is passionate about the role Woodsford plays in identifying corporate misbehaviour and assisting those who are impacted. At the heart of Woodsford’s ESG business is the principle of holding big businesses to account when there have been breakdowns in environmental, social and corporate governance standards. When those breakdowns cause loss, Alex takes pride in aiding those who have suffered that loss.

Before joining Woodsford, Alex gained experience in financial services and consumer protection group actions in both Australia and the United Kingdom. He has worked on a number of high-profile class actions in Australia before spending some time in London where he continued to work in Group Litigation. He also has experience in professional negligence, commercial property, defamation and insurance disputes.

Prior to joining Woodsford, Alex worked at class action firms Shine Lawyers in Brisbane and Slater & Gordon Lawyers in London. He has litigated in the Supreme, District and Magistrate Courts of Queensland; the Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmanian Courts of Appeal; the Federal and High Courts of Australia; and the High Court of England and Wales.

Alex completed undergraduate degrees in Law and Arts at the University of Queensland and is admitted as a solicitor to the Queensland Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia.
