Mitesh Modha
Business Development & Origination Director
London
+44 (0)20 7985 8419
Mitesh Modha is primarily responsible for establishing and building relationships with those that require litigation funding, whether that’s aggrieved stakeholders affected by ESG breaches or lawyers acting on their behalf.
He fulfils a key role within Woodsford’s efforts to hold big business to account through the identification of ESG breaches and liaising with those affected by them.
Affected parties often include shareholders (institutional investors such as pension funds, university endowment funds, sovereign wealth funds and global asset managers including many of the Top 50 by AUM) who seek compensation for losses in share value and simultaneously wish to also affect changes in corporate governance at the investee level.
On other occasions the affected parties might be a group of individuals or businesses affected by the anti-competitive conduct of a large listed business, in which case Mitesh will work with lawyers and economists to identify the best redress mechanism available to the affected group.
Prior to joining Woodsford in June 2019, Mitesh was a Director at Kain Knight, a market leading costs litigation firm, where he gained his first insights into funding through working intensively on the RBS Rights Issue Litigation, assisting with funding waterfalls and advising on adverse costs exposure. In addition, Mitesh gained exposure to the Dubai litigation market during a 3-month secondment to the region. He was a Director and General Manager of a debt recovery entity for 2 years and was also responsible for growing Kain Knight’s reputation in the region as it sought to increase its exposure to international litigation markets.
Prior to joining Kain Knight, Mitesh was a freelance county court advocate for 5 years, having previously completed the Bar Vocational Course.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Kent where he was awarded a 1st Class Honours LLB degree.
